Daniel aka Big Bird gave us a treat at his SAF chalet last nite.

Sumptuous bbq food, catchin' up with TV shows, mahjong, photo-taking and finally, 'old maid'...

Thanks, Daniel :D

Dragonboating & Pizzas

It was my second try at dragon boating :)

It was fun and different this time round with more games and smaller groups.

I may sound mean but it was really funny to see the faces of those sitting behind me drenched with water from my paddle :D So sorry, cactus and huiling... haha..I can't help it! ;P

We 'rolled' and 'drew' in the sand, 'dived' and 'folicked' in the river. We had friendly races and stuffed ourselves with pizzas from Pizza de France (simply adore their sunshine fantasy pizza!)

Meaningful Sunday

I m glad that we spent a meaningful sunday at Ren Ci Medicare Centre at Buangkok. The Medicare Centre takes care of the chronically ill and stroke patients. The patients admitted there are either from low income families or they do not have a family at all.

I m glad that my colleague, Ms Cactus, my brother and his big group of frens joined us in this visit.

We brought freshly made soya bean drink, pandan cakes, grapes, biscuits and handmade windmills to the patients.

Most of us were surprised by the turnout of volunteers and I m glad that they did not mind braving the haze, travelling to the hospital on mr FAT's 'open-top' lorry. The spirit of volunteerism!

Christine, our Chairman, taught all of us how to do a balloon sculpture of a dog. We had fun doing the balloon dogs which were also given to the patients.

My brother brought along his guitar and the whole group of us practised some songs while making the balloon dogs. It was like in school days!

When we got everything ready, we started visiting the wards, stopping at every ward to sing songs, creating a happy mood in the quiet, solemn wards. We also prepared and distributed the goodies, food and drinks to the patients. It was heartwrenching to see the patients struggling to put the food in their mouths.

We do not know if the patients were happy to see us, but all of us were glad that we were able to do these little things for them.

Thanks to Christine for initiating this visit and teaching us how to 'sculpt' balloon dogs, kudos! to our YEC members, Miona (Ren Ci staff) and of course, all our friends cum volunteers :)

Post bdae celebrations

I m slow in updating photos....

Anyway, my bdae celebrations did not stop on my bdae.

The yec gang celebrated with me during our monthly meeting. We had a cake and Johan bought us some thai desserts and durian puffs. yummy!

And over my bdae weekend, I had a very sinful bdae 'banquet' with my family at East Coast Lagoon Food Centre.

The items on the menu of my sinful banquet includes; 2 plates of wanton mee, 1 bowl of laksa, 1 big pot of stewed duck with salted vege, 1 plate of carrot cake, 1 plate of hokkien mee, 1 plate of oyster egg, 10 chicken wings, 10 sticks of satay, 1 sambal stingray, 3 bowls of rice, 4 big glasses of sugarcane drinks, 1 whole honeymelon...all these consumed by 6 of us (includes mr FAT who was not in the picture)

It was smackingly good and fattening!!!

Good job, people :D

My body is aching...

from the nite cycling on sat nite, 23 Sept 06.

But boy, m I glad that I finished the whole trip from Bedok to Kallang to ECP to Changi to Loyang to Tampines to Bedok Reservoir and back to Bedok.

So proud of my yec :)

We had put together a mega yec nite cycling event with about over 40 participants.

An amazing feat for us coz its hard to reach out to youths with just banners and posters.

Kudos to Christine, Huiling, Shaoliang, Peiwen, Nalinee, Danny, Johan, Steve, Joey, Danny.dotcom, mr FAT and the CSC members!

Of coz, not forgetting the disney couple, ms ariel and mr woody who came and support our event.

I will upload the photos and share my experience soon :)

Meanwhile, here's a link to join our yec network for updates to our activities!

NDP 2006 - Cheena-Melayu Chic

Did I mention that I m taking part in this year's NDP?

Well, I m! Finally!

I m partaking in the first item and I m one of those "blink and you will miss me" performers...

My yec comrades and I are the banner pullers...

At the end of the first item, you will see banners being pulled out from the centre stage and I m one of them!!!!

We just collected our costumes and went thru our very first major full dress rehearsal....

The costume is so cheena-melayu chic!
