Feeling like a piece of you tiao

I feel like a piece of you-tiao now...greasy and fattening...

I had you tiao for my breakfast.

As I was still full during lunchtime, I bought myself rojak, forgetting that there is you tiao in it.

Then, the pantry lady popped into my room and gave me the weekly dessert treat (ahh..the perks of contributing to office recreational fund)...

It's 'dao shuan' with...you tiao.

Easier said than done

I did it.

I stepped on people's toes and they are not very happy with me.

Black faces, mumblings and finger-pointing behind my back.

"She should doing our work for a day and experience it. She thinks our job is easy, and we very free, is it??..."

Sigh...I wish I was not given this task...to be the bad guy...

A colleague from the other office had this advice for me when I told him I received this task.

"You can have a lot of brilliant ideas to change the process and system, but at the end of it, it's the people's mindset you have to change. Afterall, the process and system are still very 'manual', you need people to work in it. So to change their mindset, firstly and most importantly, the improvements you recommend must not add on to their workload..."

Easier said than done...bleh...

Lucky, not 'suay'

Ever had those days that everything seems to go wrong?

Me and cactus were shrouded with 'suayness' since tuesday.

I shall not go into details since it was narrated in cactus' blog.

We were glad that amidst the suayness, there were little blessings that we two may have failed to notice earlier during our moments of anger.

- It was lucky that our colleague, Kitty was going to CGH as well to visit her sis-in-law and she gave us a ride to the hospital.

- It was lucky that we did not buy tonics and fruit basket as we felt that danny might not be able to consume them because of his condition.

- It was lucky that the patient occupying danny's bed was wheeled in after a short while. We might be waiting till after visiting hours as we thought that he was in the examination room.

- It was lucky that we had the fishhead steamboat for dinner instead of the sinful cuttlefish kangkong and chay kway teow. It was definitely a healthier choice.

- It was lucky that hubbie managed to avoid the accident in the ECP in time.

- It was lucky the bird poo did not drop onto us but only on our food

We are lucky not suay!

Aunties and market

19 Sept 06

Had dinner with my colleagues from the other offices at "Central" cafe at Takashimaya.

Met up shervon 1st and mighty mike joined us shortly.

We had a helluva fun bitchin' about those whom we dun really like in our workplace...

black mama..CKM...coconut lady and many more..

Mighty mike and me must have been arch-enemies or maybe we fought over the same guy in our previous lives...( I m presuming he's a gal in his previous life).

We could not stop bickering and 'insulting' each other. I can't believe I m using the same model of hp as him! eeeks!

Mighty mike and me did something really 'auntie'.

We were walking past Kalms' and I pointed to him a cute cow's coin bank.

I had expected his reaction to be of a typical guy's reaction as in "Nice meh?" or just a simple "Yah, quite cute."

But to my surprise, he said in his most 'auntie' manner, " I saw this at centrepoint, selling at $24.90. They are selling the cheapest there."

My instant reaction was "You so sure its cheaper there meh?"

"Sure, wanna bet? They must be selling this at about $30 plus." he smugly replied.

"Ok, let's go in and take a look."

We saw the coin banks and the salesperson was standing next to them.

The salesperson started his sales talk,

"This is a new product. We are selling it at a low introductory price of $26.90. You can't find such prices in other places. We are charging the lowest."

I looked at mighty mike in amusement and started talking like a 'auntie',

"I dun tink your shop's is the cheapest. My fren here saw this coin bank going at $24.90 each only."

"Cannot be. Must be of a different design." the salesperson argued.

Then mighty mike aka 'Auntie' of the 'aunties' and bitch of the bitches stepped up and retorted,

"It's the exact same design I saw at John Little at Centrepoint and they are really selling at $24.90. Dun believe, go see yourself."

At this point of time, embarassed shervon was finding a hole to hide herself. She did not want to be associated with the two 'aunties'.

Then Mike and me left the shop, leaving the clueless, hapless salesperson wondering what had just happened.

Lucky for shervon, sabby arrived and saved her from the two 'aunties'.

Then we proceeded to sample the mooncakes at the mooncake bazaar at taka where we managed to continue our yakking as we walked thru' the bazaar crowd. Then we sat ourselves at kopi bean for some more bitchin'.

It was a fun gathering, I dun tink I have ever tok so much within such a short period of time with this group of people. It's like a mini-market. That's what you get when you put 4 PR persons together!

I m looking forward to the next one, guys!

The day when it rained

It rained.

I heard the funeral procession beyond the windows of my room.

It was no ordinary funeral procession.

The music of the procession was not loud, it was sad, just very sad...

It was my colleague's funeral procession.

I saw him alive and even talked to him 3 days ago before he collapsed and went into coma.

He was declared braindead and he was pulled off from his life support system.

We were all very shocked and very sad.

Very, very sad.....

I was advised not to attend his funeral wake as I just got married.

It was bright and clear at 1.30pm when I came back to office.

Then it started to rain.

His funeral procession was at 2pm.

My other colleagues who went to his funeral procession,

Came back drenched with red, tearful eyes.

They fought back tears but to no avail.

Tears welled up in my eyes, I felt very sad.

The heaven is crying too,

For the loss of a good, kind man.

Choo, it is our fortune to have you as our colleague.

May you rest in peace.
