~ Congratulations ~

Took my precious time off and attended my bro's convocation yesterday. (see how much I love you, bro...)

He got his 2nd lower class honours in NTU's Mechanical Engineering. ( I thought with his nerdy and boring school life, he would at least get a 2nd upper class...)

The NTU graduates' gowns are new pieces and it's more worthwhile to buy the gowns then to rent them. It's only $35 and you will get a gown, a hat and a nice bag.

NTU's convo was a boring affair. They dun even have a emcee for the ceremony.

My parents were asleep before my bro went on stage and after he collected his cert.

I recalled mine in NUS has elements of fun. We had 3 shouts of hip hip hooray at the end of the ceremony and threw our hats up. Colourful balloons descended upon us while we did that. There was definitely an atmosphere of celebration.

But still I would give credit to NTU for creating so many phototaking backdrops for the graduates. They even had sound system and a small stage at the tea reception area for songs' dedication and more photo-taking opportunities .

My bro kept commenting that the graduation bear was stupid looking and ridiculously expensive and that he would laugh at frens who had the bear in their hands.

hmm...I smell sour grapes....

Anyway, Congratulations, boy! Welcome to the vicious working world!

Throttle jitters - One down, more to go...

I passed my theory test :D

Though this is not the first time I passed this test and I did all the practice booklets provided by BBDC and pored through the '400qns and ans' book,...... I'm still proud of myself *wide grin

Now that everything is computerised, i did the theory test practices and test on LCD touch screen and the results of my test was shown immediately after I end the test...

very high tech now...I dun even have the little driving booklet for the lessons as everything is computerised now...just need to log online to see my progress...

Got my bonus today and I m going to send a cheque to BBDC to top up my account....

And I can start booking my practical lessons!!!

How to breed aliens - lesson #1

Would you like to see alien life-form? I mean, alien living environment?" mr FAT appeared at the doorway of the pc room.

"huh?" ms PIG took her vision off her pc screen and looked at mr FAT in bewilderment.

"Would you like to see alien living environment? Actually, I can don't show you. I can remove it and you do not need to see it...." mr FAT babbled on and disappeared from the doorway.

"Wait...Dun tell me there is something disgusting in our house? Dun scare me leh..." ms PIG followed mr FAT out of the room.

"Where is it?" ms PIG asked, now she is really curious...

"Its in the kitchen." mr FAT pointed to the kitchen calmly.

Using mr FAT as a shield, ms PIG moved gingerly into the kitchen.

"Where?! Where?! Tell me where before I start screaming..." ms PIG demanded.

The ever-calm mr FAT pointed to the rice cooker.

THE RICE COOKER?!

"Dun tell me a hideous creature is hiding in there?" ms PIG shuddered at the thought.

"Open it for me to see!" ms PIG shoved mr FAT towards the rice cooker again.

Slowly, mr FAT lifted up the lid.

EE..... YUCKS!

In the rice cooker, ms PIG saw.......

A thick layer of lumpy-looking greenish 'forest' with black irregular-shaped spots.

The 'forest' was shrouded with white, wispy 'MIST'. Upon touch, the 'mist' disintegrates and puff! becomes powdery and scattered into the air...

The rice ladle which was inside the cooker was also 'consumed' by the 'forest'

DISGUSTING!!!!

ms PIG had expected to see a black hideous creature in the cooker and get disgusted by it.....

The 'greenery' she saw in the cooker was not what she expected but the disgusting feeling was multiplied!!!!

IT REALLY LOOKED LIKE THE ALIEN BREEDING ENVIRONMENT SCENE IN THE ALIEN MOVIE "EVOLUTION"!!!!

the rice cooker now looks like there are black and green beans with cotton wool in it!

"I thought I had washed the rice cooker after cooking one and a half week ago...." mr FAT explained with his most innocent look.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Help us with this question! :

What to do with the rice cooker?

a) Wash and boil it with hot water to disinfect it and use it like normal rice cooker again.

b) Throw it away and buy a new one since the existing fungus-infected one is a free gift from a lucky draw.

c) Donate to a school for their ecology lessons, 'moulding' (pun intended) our future generation

d) Encase and seal it as a momento / decorative item to remind everyone how well mr FAT and ms PIG takes care of their orange house. They make things flourish and grow well!

e) Let it grow and grow and use it to freak out unwelcomed guests at orange house.

f) Cook black bean rice and green beans soup with it and serve to those who reading this blog now.

Pls let me have your preferred answers/ advice using the comments option below!

Jetting off

I m going to Hongkong next week!

Haha...

I hope I get to buy some bags, jackets, dresses back...

its been a while since I got myself some decent working attire...

I have been stopping myself from shopping bcoz of my huge spending @ my wedding...

I promised mr FAT 2 pairs of jeans and my mum a sling bag...

Now, I better start cracking my pea-y brains on my chairman message for the annual report...

for those who are curious, I m taking jetstarasia...promotional price is $198 for return ticket and I booked the hotel online through asiarooms.com, $207 for 3 nites at Nathan Hotel. But becoz I delayed the trip due to unforeseen circumstances, I got to pay $110 penalty to change date of flying... :(

Throttle jitters - theory practice

My theory certificate lapsed and I had to retake my theory again....

I went for my theory practice yesterday...I did 3 booklets, failed two and passed the last one.

I got 2 out of 50 qns wrong and scored 96%.

Must score above 90% to pass. Meaning max. 3 wrong qns.

Above is the training structure and the stage circled in cyan is where I m now....

I m going to take the evaluation on Wednesday after which I will be allowed to take my theory test...

Test dates

Throttle jitters - the beginning

I m going to learn to drive...

Backtrack to before wedding.....

I told almost everyone (especially my irritating bro and sis...they would love me to have a car so that I can ferry them around) that I was not going to consider getting a driver's licence with the upcoming big-wedding-expenditure...

Now....

Now that I got a huge expenditure settled and our savings starting from 3-figure sum, I felt that its' time for me to get this licence thingy over with...

I dun wan to wait till I get pregnant and could not learn driving for the 9 whole months...no way!

I contemplated in getting class 3A (auto) which is the same price but way lot easier...but everyone was like urging me not to do that...

You see, I have the confidence to fail my driving test! And people around me dun see it!!!! This is so exasperating!

So hor, if I fail my test eventually and inevitably, I will blame everyone except myself :)

Anyway, I got myself registered with the BBDC (no, its not a church)..heard that their passing rate is higher than anywhere else...I chose BBDC not becoz of their passing rate...its bcoz its near my working place, really!
